Job Title: SQL Developer (Data Extraction & ETL) — 4–5 Years Experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a SQL Developer with 4–5 years of experience to design, build, and optimize data extraction and ETL pipelines that move data from source systems into reporting and analytics environments. The role focuses on strong SQL development, reliable batch/near‑real‑time loads, data quality controls, and performance tuning across relational databases and ETL tools.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views for data extraction and transformation.
Design, build, schedule, and monitor ETL workflows/pipelines to load data into data warehouses/data marts.
Perform source-to-target mapping and implement transformation logic aligned to business requirements.
Build incremental loads (CDC where applicable), handle late-arriving data, and support backfills/reprocessing.
Implement data validation, reconciliation, and data quality checks; troubleshoot load failures and data issues.
Optimize SQL/ETL performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, partitioning, and efficient join patterns.
Work with stakeholders (BI, analytics, product, operations) to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Maintain technical documentation (ETL design, runbooks, lineage, mapping specs) and follow SDLC practices.
Support production deployments, on-call rotation (as needed), and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure security and compliance practices for sensitive data (masking, least privilege, auditability).
Required Qualifications
4–5 years of hands-on SQL development experience (advanced SQL: CTEs, window functions, complex joins).
3+ years of experience building ETL/ELT solutions for analytics/reporting use cases.
Strong experience with at least one RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Experience with an ETL tool or framework (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend, DataStage) and/or modern ELT (e.g., dbt).
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (dimensional modeling basics, fact/dimension loads).
Experience with job scheduling/monitoring (e.g., Control-M, Autosys, SQL Agent, Airflow).
Familiarity with version control (Git) and deployment practices across environments (Dev/Test/Prod).
Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with ambiguous requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud data platform exposure (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery).
Experience with Python or shell scripting for automation and data processing.
Knowledge of CI/CD for data pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
Familiarity with data governance/lineage/catalog tools.
Experience with APIs, flat files, and streaming/near-real-time ingestion patterns (optional).
Core Skills
Advanced SQL, performance tuning, indexing
ETL design, incremental loading, error handling
Data quality and reconciliation
Data modeling fundamentals
Documentation and stakeholder communication
